Prophecy Notes, Volume 4 CLICK HERE TO RETURN TO THE MAIN LIST

The recently passed economic stimulus package of almost one trillion dollars will fail. Instead of bringing this country out of decline and recession, it will hasten a monetary collapse. I do not say this because I'm a Republican, conservative, or anti-President Obama. I say this because I'm an historian, and history past is the best predictor of history future. Shakespeare said (paraphrase), "the past is the future . . . study the past".

Throughout history, we see nations/empires that have under-produced and overspent. Rather than cutting spending and increasing production, they "foolishly" continued to overspend, and to finance their overspending by printing currency that had no collateral or security behind it. The Greeks did it. The Romans did it. The British did it. The Russians did it. The Germans did it. Each overproduced their currency to cover "wars and welfare", and each saw the collapse of their currency, hyper-inflation, and eventually the loss of their liberties and world status. Simply put . . . they over-borrowed, over-consumed, and over-spent; and tried to fix the problem by doing more of the same. This one trillion dollar stimulus package is the same scenario repeated again and will have the same results. Hegel said it well, "History shows man learns nothing from history."

What can we expect from this stimulus package of deficit spending, and the more to come? We will see some temporary rebound in the economy to be followed by surging prices and escalating inflation. Prices on commodities may double and interest rates will go to double-digits. Why? Because the investors of this world are going to lose confidence in the dollar's value. With nothing to back it (no gold or silver) and no confidence in our government to stop making money "out-of-nothing", investors are going to stop buying our bonds, and in many cases they are going to demand payment for what they are holding. This will lead to economic collapse, and a dollar that is essentially worthless. I believe the collapse of the dollar will vault the euro-dollar to become the new standard bearer of the world's economy. In fact, this is already happening on a small scale with Japenese investors.

The collapse of the U.S. dollar will plunge America into a depression so staggering that there will be a mass panic. People will demand "ACTION" to save their financial hides, and it will come by government takeover of all private-public enterprises and a suspension of civil liberties. I believe it is possible that the collapse of the U.S. dollar could be triggered by the "rapture", and the Antichrist could be called upon to "save America". His "salvation" will come at a price . . . he is handed control of this country. Before you think this is far-fetched, remember Russia gave Stalin control and Germany gave Hitler control of their nations due to economic chaos and collapse. Santayana, the philosopher said, "Those who can't remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

What can we do to escape this "financial Armageddon" that is looming ahead? Quite frankly . . . on a big picture, large scale . . . very little. Economic socialism is coming . . . Economist Friedrich Hayek calls it the "road to serfdom". Economic socialismm is one of the three legs of the New World Order (Political globalism and Ecumenical religion being the other two) that will bring forth the last world dictator. Through him, all commerce (buying, selling, borrowing, investing) will be centrally controlled. Yet - as individuals - we can do some things to guard ourselves.

1. We can pray-down and pay-off debt!

The less you owe, the less vulnerable you will be to the economic roller coaster that we will face. Eliminate debt!

2. We can move some of our investments into gold/silver!

Historically, precious metals are still highly valued and wanted even in recessions/depressions.

3. We can be faithful tithers to God's work!

There are many things we might need to cut-back or cut-out to balance our budgets . . . cable, cell phones, vacations, "new" things . . . but do not cut-back or cut-out your tithe. Never forget our Lord has an economic stimulus package for His people in Malachi 3:10, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enought to receive it."

4. We can get additional education or training to prepare for other more-in-demand jobs!

Flexibility is a must in the job market. Rigid people who refuse to cross-train or take a pay-cut to have a job, may find themselves long-term unemployed. Be open to change . . . any job is better than no job!

5. We can live healthier lives!

Eating less, eating better, would be good for us all. Exercising daily (walking, stretching, strength-training) would be helpful. As the economy changes for the worse, many will lose health insurance and access to some medical services. If we can lessen our chances of sickness, disease, or disability, we would be very wise.

In closing, truth is never meant to burden us, and prophecy is not given to frighten us. I'm excited to know our "Blessed Hope" is coming soon. I'm excited to see how the Lord will take care of His own until we leave this world. I'm excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for our Lord's work. I'm not "gloom or doom" at all. I'm going to keep on living life to the fullest . . . but with the understanding that life could change at any moment or end quickly for me. As a song said years ago, "I'm dying to live, but living to die" . . . to God by the glory!
